2024 Buick Envista
Overview
Coupe-like SUVs are all the rage and Buick, builder of staid semi-luxurious crossovers, is looking to get in on the action with the 2024 Envista. Set to take on the likes of the Audi Q5 Sportback and the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, the Chinese-built Envista will do so with its more wallet-friendly pricing. Style-wise it’s a little awkward looking, at least to our eye, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We have few details about the North American variant so far, but Buick has confirmed that the model will make it to our shores, positioned between the smaller Encore GX and the larger Envision SUVs. When we find out more about the U.S.-market Envista, we’ll update this story with details.
What’s New for 2024?
The Envista will be an all-new nameplate for Buick when it reaches U.S. dealerships. We expect to see it on sale for the 2024 model year.

Buick hasn’t revealed North American pricing for the Envista yet, and although it is said to start at a lower price point in China, we expect it to be offered in more comprehensively equipped trims in the U.S. with a higher starting price.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Chinese version of the Envista is powered by a 181-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that is hooked up to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). That same powertrain—probably with your choice of front- or all-wheel drive—could make its way here unchanged or Buick could drop in the more powerful 228-hp turbo 2.0-liter from the Envision which also uses a nine-speed automatic. When we find out more about the Envista’s powertrain we’ll update this story with those details.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
Inside, the Envista looks to offer a cabin that’s roomy for four, although the chic coupe-like roofline will undoubtedly cut into rear-seat headroom. If Buick’s current offerings are anything to go by, we aren’t likely to see truly luxurious materials, but nonetheless, the Envista should offer plenty of convenience features and desirable tech gadgetry.

The Car and Driver Difference
Infotainment and Connectivity
The Envista’s dashboard consists of two 10.3-inch displays, one for the SUV’s gauge cluster and the other serving as a touchscreen infotainment interface. From photos, we can see that there is also a separate panel for climate controls below a center-mounted dash vent. We expect that Buick’s most up-to-date software will be used here and should include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, available in-dash navigation, and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot.
How to Buy and Maintain a Car
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
Buick’s standard warranty package offers more generous powertrain coverage than many of the Envista’s key rivals, but the ute’s one included service visit pales in comparison with the plans of the BMW X4 and the Infiniti QX55, both of which provide far lengthier terms for complimentary scheduled maintenance.
Limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles Powertrain warranty covers six years or 70,000 miles Complimentary scheduled maintenance is covered for the first visit
