2023 PacificSource Medicare Advantage Plans

Listen to Insurance Talk: PacificSource Medicare Plan Updates for 2023

Welcome to insurance talk with Cheri Martinen. I am here today with a special guest from PacificSource, Emily Carrick. We are so glad to have PacificSource here as they have a bunch of new plans available in Deschutes County for the 2023 Medicare Annual Election Period.

PacificSource Announces the First Ever $0 Premium Plan for Deschutes County

PacificSource has been a staple in our community for years, but this new plan makes it even better. Don’t think just because you’re paying $0, so you’re not going to get anything. This plan is very good. Let’s explore some of the benefits.

What are the Benefits of PacificSource’s $0 Premium Plan?

Dental and Vision Benefits

Arguably the best part of this $0 plan is the dental coverage that is included. With this benefit you get three cleanings and two exams per year. A full mouth pano x-ray every five years and the bite wing x-rays. This is an up to $1,500 dental benefit per year which can be used for both preventative or comprehensive dental care. And, you can also see any dentist that you want, so you don’t have to stay within PacificSource’s network.

For vision, PacificSource has made improvements to their vision benefit for 2023. We have gotten rid of the copay for a routine vision exam. The eyeglass benefit is still included, but for the $0 premium plan, it’s $200 every two years and it’s a reimbursement benefit. Which means you can go anywhere that you like to buy your glasses from and PacificSource will reimburse you up to the $200 limit.

This is typically a benefit that would have to be upsold to someone, but for 2023 it’s included in our Medicare Advantage Plan.

Rewards for Healthy Actions

A popular benefit that is continuing under the $0 premium plan is the Rewards for Healthy Actions program. Emily likes to refer to this as the gift card program, because if you are doing a preventative screening that’s covered under this benefit, you can earn a gift card to over a hundred different stores. So just for example, if you’re getting an annual physical or the Medicare annual wellness visit, either of those visits will earn you a $50 gift card.

You can also earn a $25 gift card for getting a mammogram. If you are diabetic, you get a free diabetic eye exam every year and not only is it free, but you’ll get a $25 gift card for having the exam.

There are rewards for A1C test, $10 for getting a flu shot, $20 for a DEXA bone density scan and $20 for a colon cancer screening which you can earn by getting a colonoscopy or by calling the PacificSource office and requesting a home colon cancer screening kit.

Once you have done the visit, a PacificSource representative will reach out to you and let you know you’ve earned it and all you have to do is tell them the company or store you want the gift card from. You get rewarded for taking care of yourself.

PacificSource Essentials Choice RX14 Plan

For 2023 we are making really positive changes to this plan. It will be $95 a month, so a little bit of a drop in premium over 2022. And the out of network benefit limit has been removed.
