2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE

Overview

Those familiar with AMG’s reputation should know what to expect from this tuned version of the EQE electric sedan: extra power and performance. The dual electric motors provide a whopping 617 horsepower—or up to 677 hp with an optional performance package. The suspension and brakes are also upgraded to improve handling, and visual tweaks include different wheels and a rear spoiler. The battery is the same as the standard EQE’s, but official U.S. range figures aren’t available yet. And, as usual, we can also expect a significant price premium for the privilege of owning an EV with an AMG badge.

What’s New for 2023?

The AMG EQE is a new addition to the lineup for 2023, joining the standard Mercedes-Benz EQE, which is a smaller sibling to the flagship EQS electric sedan.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

Mercedes-AMG has yet to release detailed trim-level information on the EQE, but it’s likely to offer numerous option packages taking its price into the six-figure range.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The high-performance version of the EQE has AMG-specific electric motors in the front and rear that provide all-wheel drive. They pump out significantly more grunt than the standard model, with 617 horsepower on tap in the base configuration and 677 hp available with an optional Dynamic Plus package. AMG claims a sprint to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds for the top version; we look forward to testing that claim when we get an EQE in for testing.

Range, Charging, and Battery Life

The AMG EQS has the same 90.6-kWh battery pack as the standard model, and its higher performance is likely to diminish range a bit. EPA figures aren’t available yet but the EQE is likely to be rated at under 300 miles of range. DC fast-charging capability will be standard.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The AMG EQE offers the same interior package as the standard model with a few twists. The seats are unique to the AMG version and there are various performance displays added to the information screens. Because EV powertrains are quiet, there will also be special customizable fake sounds available to increase the auditory drama both inside and outside the car.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Mercedes’ gigantic infotainment screen, dubbed the Hyperscreen, will be optional on the AMG EQE. It combines a digital gauge cluster, a central infotainment screen, and a passenger display screen and spans the entire dashboard. The standard infotainment setup will likely be a vertically oriented touchscreen.
