The use of artificial intelligence has grown tremendously in the last couple of years. While Americans can see many positive examples of how AI can make life easier, such as automating mundane tasks like taking notes or handling simple customer service inquiries, they are also very concerned about adverse aspects of the technology.
“As AI has become more prevalent in society, more potential downsides and negative effects from the technology and its implementation begin to show,” said Gabriel Shaoolian, CEO and Founder of web design company Digital Silk. “Three more pronounced areas for this are intellectual property theft, plagiarism, and how AI will impact the job market, especially for creative industries.”
Digital Silk recently analyzed Google search data for keywords related to wariness about AI, and then compared this with each state’s population to find out the states whose residents are most wary about AI. The top five states in the ranking have an average of 489.8 AI-related online searches per month for every 100,000 residents. In comparison, the bottom state had only 175 monthly searches per 100,000 residents, and the average number of monthly searches in the U.S. overall is 350.
