Travel Medical Insurance for Extended Travel Abroad

During this pandemic-induced shift to remote work, people have been relocating in droves, some to leave cramped spaces in the city, some to flee to more affordable areas of the country, and some simply taking advantage of the freedom of no longer being tethered to a physical office. For some, this trend is evolving into a plan to make remote work a more permanent situation to allow for travel and exploration. You may be one of these digital nomads (or contemplating it), or you may be seeking other opportunities to explore the world, such as backpacking abroad, temporary work abroad, or serving as a missionary in another country. No matter your circumstance, if you plan to travel abroad, travel medical coverage is essential.

For people taking a single trip or vacation to another country, a comprehensive travel protection plan may provide the needed coverage, which includes medical coverage and medical evacuation coverage in addition to the traditional Trip Cancellation benefit.

However, for a longer trip or extended travel abroad, or if trip cancellation protection is not a priority, a travel medical insurance plan may better suit your needs.

Travel medical plans are priced per day, according to the age of the traveler. Our plans cover travelers for travel as little as 5 days abroad and up to 364 days. Because there is no Trip Cancellation coverage like on a comprehensive travel protection plan, the cost is generally much lower than single trip travel insurance.

Our WorldMed and InterMedical plans are designed for individuals traveling outside the U.S. For people visiting the U.S., consider our Visit USA Healthcare plan. And if you’re studying abroad—whether in the U.S. or elsewhere—check out our Study USA Healthcare plan.
