Will my bills be covered if I leave my workplace?

Hello, I am currently in a job where I have to pay $180 a month for health insurance. I decided to visit the doctor as one of my chest kept on growing and did not now that it was just a lump from excess tissue. The process has been on going and I was ordered to take a mammogram to discard the possibility of male breast cancer and my bill came to a little less of the $5,000 . I have put my 2 weeks notice at my workplace and I received the bill just now. My employer asked me if I wanted to have another period of coverage for 1 month even after I put my 2 weeks notice and I decided to decline at the time, my insurance ends on my last day (9/29). As of right now, I have a secured job at a bank with benefits as well. My question is, would my insurance cover me during the period and time that I was paying or is it recommended for me to get back to my employer to see if I could get another month? I am not entirely sure if benefits at my new workplace cover past bills. I am 19 so I am just finding out about insurances and bills. thanks!
