Why am I getting billed and having to pay out of pocket because my insurance didn’t take even though they said it would work?

For more context, I was seeing the psychiatrist located at the same practice building, and he referred me to the PCP right across the hall as it would be easier to communicate and brainstorm things. I agreed of course because it would be easier, so I went to the front desk and asked them to schedule an appointment that very same day, just 2 hours later. Keep in mind that the front desk staff are for both my psychiatrist and Primary Care Provider, and I asked them if my insurance will work with the PCP because I had not researched about it, and they said it should work. So, I pop in for my appointment and pay a 20$ copay, and the appointment happens, and yet I was billed for mental health even though I did not personally speak of any mental health with him at my appointment. All we spoke about was my health, checkup that I had done with my PCP before, and then we discussed stuff about sleeping tests because I get drowsy when I drive or do things like exercise; to the point where I can fall asleep right on the spot.

TDLR: should I sue or try and dispute it because I was referred by my Psychiatrist to see my PCP, as well as them telling me that my insurance would work?
