OK, this is super weird and I’m not sure what to do. I got cobra through my former employer for about 18 months (starting last year)and it is expiring soon. About halfway through, so the beginning of this year, the administration of the cobra account switched firms. I didn’t realize this, and it turns out that I haven’t been paying the new administrator my premiums. When I spoke to them today they told me that I don’t have an account with them and that they told my insurance company terminate my account earlier this year for non-payment.

However, the medical insurance company shows I’m in good standing up until next month. I’ve been receiving and been getting approved for all sorts of services throughout the year. I guess maybe somehow they never got the memo and didn’t cancel the account. I even had a big surgery.

What should I do now? I don’t mind paying the premiums retroactively but I’m afraid that they might come after me for the cost of the surgery and other services which is probably close to $100,000.

Will they even notice this happened? I’m afraid to say something in case this is sliding under the radar now
