Hello! I apologize in advance for my post as I searched and saw many of these posts but I’m still lost…

I’m not sure where to go with insurance…neither my husband nor my job have insurance and we make too much for Medicare (or medicaid?). Which is a blessing but I’m not sure what insurance to go with or what anything means.

With a deductible, do you pay for everything until you’ve reached that amount? How does that work?

Is it better to pay a lower deductible and slightly higher monthly or lower monthly and higher deductible?

For more info- it will be my husband, myself, and our two children on the policy (2 and 5 yrs old). We are generally healthy apart from depression and anxiety (-though my husband does have 100%VA disability so I suppose stuff from that but it was mostly on PTSD.) We don’t take any medications or go to the doctor very often. Maybe wellness visits for the kids or sick visits for them and maybe vaccines though my daughter is about to have her last vaccine for a bit.

So can anyone help? I was looking at policies with USAA, but I don’t know what the stuff means….!

Edited to add: we’re in Utah County, UT and make ~$140k/yr (29 and 28 yrs old)
