What are my options as a self-employed cancer patient?

I’m currently on my mother’s insurance via her employment. I’m 30 but am able to do this due to the paperwork (disabled adult) and general hoops we jump through every year to stay on it. Every year they make it increasingly difficult to maintain. This year we got zero notice of suspended benefits, are being asked for additional paperwork we’ve never been asked for before, and it’s taking weeks to get anything done because there are so many parties at play that there’s been really bad communication and coordination.

I think it would be so much easier for everyone if I just got my own insurance but we have Blue Shield PPO and I’m worried that I can’t afford anything as good (I make good money as a tattoo artist but I feel like good insurance can be like thousands a month?) or that I possibly won’t be accepted because I have cancer.

What are my options here? If my mom and I can’t figure out this paperwork in the next five days, apparently they’re dropping me entirely??
