It’s long, sorry. Ok. So my Husband left his other job in July. He had his job’s insurance harvard pilgrim until the end of July, along with masshealth(and yes we have kids) as secondary. We were getting help with the premium assistance through masshealth. Ok so that ended we have masshealth for a couple weeks until we picked a plan with masshealth, WellSense. That started August 13th. All was good. He wasn’t starting his new job until mid August we later found out. So he still signed paper work second week of August and insurance came up. We figured like before we would have to sign up for the job’s insurance and have masshealth secondary and they can help us again with premium assistance. Also,I’ve spoken to masshealth and they said yes you must do that and call when the job’s insurance starts. In his portal it says September 1st when you sign up and we think oh ok good. That makes sense because he hasn’t started working yet. So fast forward to he starts work training for the first couple of days. And for a couple days it was going fine, until his knee started to hurt. It’s from an old injury from when he was a kid. Didn’t get hurt at work. But the activity of climbing in a truck seems to bother it. So he went to work with it hurting but he couldn’t do anything and his trainer said go home and see your Dr. So he did, got a Dr note, xray. He had to be out for a few days(happened to fall on the weekend) and the Dr also said he would have to do physical therapy. He told HR and she said no problem, maybe we can put your employement on hold, but if you feel you can’t work no problem. You’re in the early stages of training. Btw the x-ray was normal. Well, my husband decided that maybe the job wasn’t right for him at the moment because his knee was hurting him. He told HR that she didn’t seem too thrilled and said ok no problem, I’ll terminate your status, let the supervisor know.” So out of curiosity, he logged into his portal. It wasn’t deactivated yet, and for some reason, it showed he had the job’s insurance on August 1st. Then we got 2 cards in the mail from the insurance with his name on it, nobody else’s. But it says family. So now I’m like, uh oh. I thought it was started in September. I called the number on the card, and it does say his name,
Active August 1st. I’m panicking because we had no idea and we had appointments, he did too obviously for his knee pain, we used wellsense. But he says don’t worry about it we didn’t know. So his last day was 8/22. And he called to quit 8/27. He only worked about 16.5 hours. He gets the only check from then direct deposit, and it looks like they deducted the insurance he was left with nothing. I told him to call and find out what’s going on. He’s too stubborn, lol. He said they won’t listen to him because he quit and they’re mad at him. Idk. So then I got a call from my kid’s counseling office that one of the appointment day claim was declined 8/15. Saying we had private insurance.. they think maybe the old insurance harvard pilgrim from his other job might accidentally be listed with Wellsense/masshealth. They say call wellsense. I called wellsense and they said they did see harvard Pilgrim. I told him, but it was ended 7/31. He said oh yeah he could see it, and that maybe the Counseling office made the mistake. I said no they said wellsense denied it. So he said I had have the Counseling office, tell them to call wellsense behavioral line they do claims. Maybe sometimes it’s not fully communicated that the old insurance ended and he said he saw nothing out of the ordinary. And to myself I figured my husband’s recent job maybe they insurance wasn’t active at all, since he was terminated they probably canceled the month. Then the counseling office said maybe because the plan had just started 8/13 it takes a couple of days for everything to update and the old insurance was still listed. She said she’s seen it happen before. Then She had me call the behavior health claim line and I explained to that agent we no longer have harvard pilgrim. She said are you sure…I said yes he hasn’t work there since July. So she worked on it, said it should be all set. But now I’m just so worried that the other new insurance was activated and now we’re in a whole headache to try and fix everything. My husband thinks I’m overreacting. I keep telling him call hr and he won’t. He went to his employment portal app again and it doesn’t log in, and he said- “ok, see, we are fine. It’s not active. I’m terminated.” But I’m not sure what to do. I feel like I have to cancel all the appointments until I figure it out and it looks like a nightmare. I’m so sick from it. And reading on here similar situations it’s really bad. What do you do know if you quit, how can they look you up etc anyway. Ugh idk sorry for this being long. (Luckily his knee is feeling a bit better, just sore at times.)
