Want to try a GLP-1 drug, should I not even try with insurance?

Firstly, I am rather unhappy that my doctor made me schedule an appointment to discuss a GLP-1 drug that boiled down to “we can’t do anything, call your insurance company”. My insurance company pretends they don’t know what GLP-1 is, and when given brand names they find a list and say “not on it”. From some searching on here, I am guessing no one is having any luck with insurance covering this?

It is the end of the year and my benefit elections are coming up. Is there any kind of resource where I could find an insurance on the marketplace that could help me? I also have been told you can just buy it outright, but I have no idea how to do that either. It seems like a lot of information on this drug is being obfuscated despite the rampant number of ads for it on television. How am I supposed to get started if no one wants to give me a starting point?

Nothing is working for me, I’d like to try this drug for my health, and it seems like no one cares. I am tired of needing to be an advocate for my own health when every system that is in place is refusing to help, turning me away, telling me I don’t need this test/procedure, etc.
