United Healthcare vs HCA Colorado (provider and insurance contract renewal)

Hi all – 27m here w/ epilepsy and RNS device implanted.

I got a letter 2 weeks ago indicating UHC and HCA Colorado are struggling to reach a contract renewal agreement / terms and have gotten mixed signals if it’s going to happen or not. First time seeing this and being very impacted by it (all my neuro doctors/surgeons are thru HCA and I’m on UHC).

Is this a normal occurrence / what are the odds HCA and UHC reach an agreement?

For those who have been through something like this, how did you navigate it? Did you pay the OON costs until you could find a replacement (they’re telling me i would wait 6+ months to set up an initial visit w/ the referral doctor (who is younger, possibly less experienced, hasn’t been with me in lockstep through all my procedures with me) at separate clinic and I’m supposed to be seeing someone every 45-90 days max). I do have some coverage for OON providers and likely won’t immediately jump to in network before feeling out all my options but am getting anxious.

Appreciate any and every insight here. If there’s any hope to hold on to that I won’t be paying too much to keep my current doctor id love to have it.

Thanks in advance.
