For anyone looking at insurance companies, I caution you to stay away from United Healthcare. I get rides 6 days a week, being in a wheelchair it’s necessary. A few days ago I set up my rides for the month, and today’s ride was, for some reason, cancelled due to some internal reason that had nothing to do with me. It was a mistake they made, that they have made many times before. Now I’m screwed out of a necessary ride today and they won’t do a damn thing about it. Being in a power chair, they require 72 hour notice for any rides, even if they screw up. I even got it all set up with my normal ride company, they said they could take me if insurance set it up. Well, UHC refused saying they need 72 hour notice to schedule rides. I SET THE DAMN THING UP WITH MY USUAL RIDE COMPANY!! They just needed to call them and agree to pay for it like they do every other day, but they refused to make a simple phone call. This is not the first time they’ve done this, it’s honestly like the 4th or 5th time just this year. I caution everyone to stay away from UHC, the employees that I’ve come across don’t care about the client, and the policies they have are ridiculous and not geared towards helping us.
