UMR Has To Be The Worst Medical Insurance Company

I’m about to go on a tangent – wondering if anyone else has had these similar experiences!

The WORST insurance company in the world. I don’t even know I pay them every month. I had lost my full time job so I had to buy my own insurance, and when you get insurance no through your job, you have the 6 month pre-existing clause. So if anything I’m treated for in the first 6 months was already going on prior, they wouldn’t cover it.

They've been doing the pre-existing condition “investigation” for 5 months now, and my doctors have no record of getting anything from them. I continue to call UMR about this, and they say they’ve sent it all out again and nothing. Every time I call, it’s a different answer. turns out they didn’t send out the letters to any of the correct addresses (also they are only relying on mail as if it’s 1862 – they said they won’t make phone calls), even though I gave them the correct addresses via the mail and then over the phone TWICE! Apparently they had no record of them. And anytime I spoke to my doctors they had never gotten anything. I have had to work so hard to get the doctors faxed everything instead and make sure they got it and sent it out. The fact that I have to go back and forth and play the middle man is UNACCEPTABLE.

Then flash forward to me calling back and forth even further, my docs again confirm they’ve sent out the requested info, but UMR of course claims they didn’t get it. They wete relying on mail and won’t call anyone so like I said, I gave my docs fax numbers to send info on their end and they confirmed they sent it. But of course, UMR claims they didn’t get it. They should be taking care of this. They just don’t want to pay.

Now recently UMR say they finally got some info back (I had to press them to check again during this call), but one of the doctors, who has NOTHING to do with the bill I’m even being charged, apparently hasn’t provided that info (she did, I asked her personally), so because of one doctor who’s not even involved in everything else hasn’t provided info, they can’t move forward with all the other bills I’m facing!!

I’ve going through serious health issues and they’re having me owe over $10k?! I have never been diagnosed or treated for anything I’m being seen for right now. Why can’t they pick up the phone and call the doctors?! I’m supposed to supposed suffer health wise AND be in debt?! Honestly, f*** UMR. You are the dumbest company I have ever dealt with.
