Two insurances and neither want to cover me

I have been on my parents same health insurance plan since 2022 when they switched from one carrier to another. Their benefit year is 7/1 to 6/30.

This year I turned 26 on May 7th and knew I would be removed from my parent’s insurance as of 5/31/24.

Due to that, I chose to be added to my husband’s insurance on 1/1/24.

When the year began, I added both insurances to my file. I was pregnant and due in March, so I had quite a few appointments.

Well, Ferbuary came around and my OB office told me that my claims were being denied. Great.

I called both insurances and they gave me the run around saying the other insurance was primary. I was literally in labor in March, on the phone dealing with this. It was finally determined at the end of March that my parents health insurance would remain primary until 5/31. I thought everything was settled.

To this day, they claim that they are reviewing all of my claims from 1/1-5/31, but I am still receiving large bills in the mail for everything from a vaccine I got while pregnant, to office visits, to ultrasounds and my hospital stay.

I am beyond annoyed because they never truly give me an update on the coverage and I have multiple offices calling me asking me to pay my bills. …I am covered under 2 insurances, I shouldn’t have to pay more than a copay on these?!

My question is- How much longer should I wait to have this resolved? Should I hire a lawyer at this point?

Any advice appreciated
