Trying to figure out what health insurance is gonna look like when I stop receiving disability benefits
I’m on SSDI right now but super worried about my access to healthcare once I return to work. I won’t qualify for Medicare because of my age. I don’t think I’ll be able to consistently work full time and my job/career options are limited due to my various health issues, so I kind of expect to be poor for the rest of my life. My plan is to figure out how much I need to work to survive (worst case scenario) so I expect to be on just Medicaid until I have job/financial stability.
Ideally, I need weekly therapy, quarterly PCP visits, and quarterly visits with an endocrinologist & psychiatrist AT MINIMUM. That’s if things GO WELL. I also have a quarterly visit with a dermatologist but I guess I can live without that.
I’m very traumatized by my past experience with my health, lack of resources & support; so I over-plan to compensate.
My plan is to be on just Medicaid, I know my providers accept Medicaid & I’ll qualify based on income. I just don’t know what type of Medicaid I’d qualify for, and what that entails. I posted about this in an online forum and a comment said I’d only get like 10 doctor visits a year. My overall health will deteriorate if that’s really all I get. Like I’ll end up disabled all over again.
I’m in Arkansas and it’s tough to find info about this online. I’m not sure if I’ll qualify for the type of Medicaid like described on this page because I will not be receiving any disability benefits at that point. No SSDI, no Medicare. Just working 20-30 hrs/week, 1 person household, no dependents, over the age of 26, gross income around 1000-1200 per month.
I know I’ll qualify for Medicaid I just don’t know what TYPE or WHAT it will cover 😭
