I’m getting kicked off medicaid, and I barely missed the cutoff for eligibility for my union health insurance (wga strike).

I’m eligible for a $533 subsidy. I take 3 generic meds, do dental every 6 mon, a yearly doctor checkup, vaccines, obgyn sometimes, psychiatry monthly, and therapy weekly through a clinic. I’m otherwise healthy, but my work is physically active, so I’m at a somewhat higher risk of injury (and I bike in nyc a lot). The cheapest marketplace plans, at around $550 a month, all have deductibles in the thousands- so my therapy $50 copay would only kick in after I’m out $4700. This is completely stratospherically out of the picture for me. Even the generic drugs are only a $10 copay after the $4700 deductible is paid.

I’ve gotten used to paying zero for all of this, so I’m completely at a loss of what to do. I’m going into spiraling debt from the work stoppage, which is really affecting my mental health, so I really need the support from my psychiatrist and therapist. It’s also really hard to work without adderall, trapping me in a cycle of being a bad employee and being unable to get insurance as a result.

Should I: try to get a job at starbucks or something that offers coverage from day 1? I cant see how anyone makes it on these plans. I have coverage until June 30th; I was thinking of asking my psych for a vacation exemption to get a few extra months of meds, and I’ve stopped taking on weekends.

Thanks in advance from a sadgirl who wishes to live in finland
