Traveler insurance
Hello, I live in the US and a family member came to visit, had an emergency surgery with a very limited travelers insurance that only covers partially the costs (from their home country). That family member doesnt speak english so I stayed with them for the whole ordeal, translating and helping. They had me as his guardian, and I helped sign the authorizations for the procedures. Through the whole time the travelers insurance said it was sending the hospital a letter authorizing up to U$ X, which is much lower than the bill. Some papers printed out that were given to us mention “Co signer required”, but when their finance team came asking I just sent them to the insurance company letter that should have been sent. I never saw such letter, only have communication stating they sent it. Am I liable for the bill? The family member returned to their home country. Ohio is the state if that matters. Thanks.
