Transitioning from my dad’s insurance

I’ll start by saying I am not very educated in insurance. It’s all very confusing and doesn’t make much sense to me. I believe I’m going to be removed from my dad’s insurance in September 2025 when I turn 26. I take Humira every other week for an autoimmune condition. The medicine essentially prevents me from losing my vision, so it is very important that I don’t miss doses.

My concerns – How do I go about the transition to ensure I do not go any time without insurance? I have been between jobs for a bit, I’m getting a job, but they’re only offering part time so I likely will not be able to get insurance through them. My understanding is that open enrollment for insurance leads to having insurance in Jan 2025. Do I just sign up for that and have two insurance plans until I don’t have my dad’s anymore in Sept? How do I ensure I have insurance when my dad’s plan ends for me?

Thank you so much, I apologize for my ignorance
