Therapist co pay miscalculation, asking for back pay

My therapist informed me that her billing specialist told her that she’s been taking only $30 for my copay when she should have been taking out $100. I’ve had 9 sessions with her and she charged me $30 for each session after the end of each session. I started seeing her in April of this year and she’s now asking for back copayments of $630 to cover the $70 difference for each of those sessions. I checked on my insurance portal and she’s been submitting claims to my insurance since the first session. When I first started seeing her in April, she told me she accepted my insurance and my co pay is $30 a session.

I understand that it was my responsibility to check my insurance benefits and that I should know my copay and that I should have confirmed what the amount was with my insurance from the beginning but I didn’t and that was my mistake.

Do I legally owe her that $630 back pay amount? even though she already charged for her services after each appointment? It seems a little unprofessional on her part, she caught this mistake five months after I started seeing her and due to her mistake I now have an outstanding balance. I never would have gone to see her in the first place had I of known that it would cost me $100 per session, that’s not something I can afford.
