TeamCare Medical Insurance Back Charging For a Month of No Insurance

Hello, hoping someone can help.

Someone in the legal sub told me to post over here so here it goes…

My wife and I had medical insurance through the healthcare marketplace. Our income changed and we were no longer going to be eligible for our discounts and decided to see if we could get special enrollment through her employer.

We sent in paperwork showing our termination date from the marketplace and after sending in more paperwork we were finally approved in May (mid May for myself).

The insurance carrier decided to charge us for the entire month of April since the termination from the marketplace wasn’t until April 23rd and they claim they due to special enrollment there can be no lapse of coverage and that they can’t simply charge for part of the month.

This of course does not seem even remotely fair.

They are saying I need to go through an appeals process for the possibility of being refunded which I’ve already submitted..

Is there anything I can/should do in this situation?

Thanks for any advice!
