Tax penalty and medicaid question

Hello everyone, im a bit confused about the tax penalty and medicaid. First off i started a job this year and i will have to file my own taxes seprate from my parents and i wont be under their insurance anymore since im not a dependant (this is based on what my dad told me). But i havent even made $6000 after my empolyer took out taxes, i havent worked for long and only part time.

So based on this i was thinking that i wont even bother getting healthcare, im young and never go to the doctor so i dont see the point right now, but my dad said that theres a tax penalty and instead i should look at medicaid. So the subreddit pinned post said theres no tax penalty and thats what ive read online as well. Now im in MD and i read that the state has a health insurance mandate, but no penalty? Is this accurate? And if so what would be the consequences if i still didnt get health insurance?

And regarding medicaid, i have $7000 in an investment account, so does that disqualify me from medicaid because its considered assets and the limit is $2500?

Sorry if any questions are stupid or already answered, im just new to all this and really confused right now. Any advice will be much appreciated.
