Switch insurance for a third time this year? Baby on the way.

TIA -My husband and I are expecting our first child any day now. We started the year on my husband’s company’s insurance plan, which was great. But unfortunately the company went under and laid off its entire sales force.

So we quickly jumped onto my company’s insurance, which comes out to a little over $800 per month. I assume it will jump to over $1000 once the baby is born.

Thankfully we did get onto my insurance because a few weeks later I was sent to the hospital with stroke symptoms (thankfully, the baby and I are ok). For the most part I’m happy with what the plan covered. I think the total bill came out to $23,000 and we’re on the hook for $1400.

My husband luckily got a new job which has great insurance, so my question is once we have the baby can we jump onto his insurance since it will be cheaper? Is it even worth it since we’ll meet our deductible once the baby is born? Should we just wait it out until the end of the year and then jump onto my husbands plan which should cost less than half of what we pay monthly.

Typing this out I feel like we should still with my plan to keep things easy and since we will hit our deductible, but I’m not well versed in the insurance space and wanted to see if anyone could offer advice or direction. Thanks!
