So I purchased health insurance through BCBS for my son and entered his primary care physician before purchasing to make sure the doctor was in network. Well the Physician was in network.. so great! I purchased the insurance and waited for the card to come in then took my son to his 3 year check up. I get the bill in the mail and see that insurance is not paying so I call BCBS and was told I had to add his primary care physician before going and that they will not be covering the cost. The representative said that it was clearly stated on the policy. Well I read through so many plans, found one that had decent coverage and was covered the doctors I needed, purchased it and went to the doctor.

Am I the idiot here? Is this well known thing? It took a total of 3 mins to get on the app and add the doctor to his profile but because I didn’t do that before the appointment I get stuck with the bill. It’s so frustrating that I’ve paid a total of $542 to bcbs and another $250 to the doctor and we are only 2 months into the new year.

Just had to rant because I’m fed up with the ticky tacky ways these health insurance companies wiggle out out of paying. Again, maybe I’m the idiot here.
