Long story short, I am an idiot. When I started with my new employer in July I thought I had selected my benefits for the year. I remember choosing and submitting these options. Well, apparently I never actually submitted them even though I assumed I had done so.

Thinking my 2023 selections would default to 2024, I idiotically let open enrollment pass and have come to realize today I am without any health insurance.

I’ve never been without health insurance a day in my life and it turns out I’ve been without it for 5.5 months. Now that I am aware, I’m terrified. I applied for late enrollment for 2024 but there’s a chance my employer denies it.

This is 100% my fault and I obviously know I effed up. My question is, what can I do for the rest of the time being in 2023 and if I do need to purchase my own health insurance for 2024, where would you recommend I look?

I’m a 31 yo male. No significant health issues or dependents.

Thanks for any help.
