Service center falsified my income to get me disqualified from Medi-Cal

My job ended on April 5th. I updated this on Covered California which auto-applied me to Medi-cal. I got a call from my case worker. I explained that I currently have no income, but I have money in the bank to survive off of for a few months and investments that are unproductive and set to reinvest anything that I gain (literally less than $20 if I’m lucky). He told me to submit a bunch of documents.

Him calling asking for documents goes on for several rounds. He wants 1099s, sworn statements, my checking account, etc. I always submit to later docs right after the phone call.

I get dinged full price for my private health insurance (Covered CA covers only $1). I figure it’s just because I haven’t been enrolled in Medi-Cal yet.

3 more weeks go by. Finally he calls saying that he was at Jury Duty so my case has been delayed. He asks for more documents (it never ends).

A week later I get a denial letter in the mail because I didn’t submit those same documents. I figure this was because my case was abandoned for those 3 weeks instead of being assigned to another case worker.

My calls and messages go unanswered, as I have experienced this whole time.

I get dinged full price ($325) again on no income. I order my prescriptions with plans to cancel my health care since I can’t afford it and Medi-Cal and this shitty resource center are a lost cause.

I go on Covered CA to find that I have new incomes listed that I did not put. They listed each of my investments as a $100 monthly income, for a total of $500. I don’t even make $100 a year those investments combined!

So they have purposely falsified documents to get my claim denied.

What is my recourse here? Calling them just goes to voice mails that are never checked.
