SEP/QLE question – spouse’s employer changing insurance

Hi! Any info/guidance on this is appreciated. My husband’s employer is changing from one insurance company/provider to another, and thus his available plans and premiums are changing (and premiums increasing). This was a fairly last minute surprise to him and his fellow employees and has caused quite a bit of upset understandably.

I have been on his insurance for awhile, because for a time it seemed like a better fit for us and my health needs, but especially now with this change it is significantly more expensive than me being on my own employer’s insurance, which also now offers a better plan. However his open enrollment is now (June) and mine does not happen again until December.

Would his employer changing their available insurance typically count as a QLE/qualifying life event to make me eligible for a special enrollment period, or no?

Unfortunately I may not have enough time to hear back from my own HR about this question, since my husband got the dates mixed up of when his open enrollment period ends and its sooner than expected. Just wondering if anyone here may have any knowledge on this or similar experience.
