Seeing claim vs bill and ER severity

I had to go to an out-of-network ER while traveling, and the bills are crazy. I have insurance so some charges have been negotiated, but it is still too much for me to pay.

I have not received the hospital bill via snail mail. They have emailed me with a portal login stating, “This web link is unique to your access request and can only be used with the matching validation code provided to you in a separate email from HOSPITAL.” I have not received the separate email.

I HAVE seen the claim/EOB on my insurance website.

Do I request the validation code and get logged in to the portal? Await physical bill?

Also, the hospital (and a separate bill from the actual doctor I saw) list me as ER high severity. I would assume “high” would be something more than what I went in for. I was in pain and a previous reading of an ultrasound made it sound potentially worse than it was (and was wrong), but I was in the waiting room for some time. It wasn’t like I was rushed in.

This is all going to ruin me financially. Ugh
