running prescriptions through two insurances

so i currently have a primary insurance (my parents) and a secondary (my own). i had given these to my previous pharmacy, but my prescriptions were constantly getting messed up because of it. for example my parents insurance would only cover some of my prescriptions while my insurance would cover others that my parents wouldn’t or they were at different prices. (this is all the way that the pharmacy explained it to me) so i would go in expecting to pay one price and they would tell me a different price and then i would have to have them run it through my other insurance. they had certain prescriptions that were run through my insurance while others were ran through my parents to get whichever price was cheaper. they told me i could only run my prescriptions through one type of insurance. it was a whole complicated thing. i switched to a new pharmacy and also got new insurance and only gave the pharmacy my insurance since it covers all of my current prescriptions at full cost (my parents does not). however, i was just prescribed something new and my insurance will not cover it, but my parents will. if i go in and tell them my parents insurance is primary and mine is secondary, will that mess up my other prescriptions? like will i now have to pay for them? sorry if this whole post is confusing i’m confused myself lol
