Questions about marketplace and part time “insurance”

I’m hoping to get some insight here, because I’m completely confused! 32F in AL.

I am about to be quitting my current, full-time job to return to school full time. So I’ll be loosing my current health insurance. My plan is/was to get coverage through the marketplace. I expect to qualify for subsidies due to my significantly reduced income.

I have been offered a part time position to help cover costs while in school, which is great. What is not great is that I got a letter from this new PT employer stating that I may not be eligible for marketplace subsidies because I am eligible under their group health plan.

This “insurance” is a limited plan. It is the UHC Part-Time Virtual Plus Plan. It has a $0 deductible, $9100 OOP. Coinsurance is listed as 100% for what is covered. Primary doctors visits are covered at 100% but a max of 4 per year. Specialists are covered at 100% but a max of 4 per year. There are no hospital or surgical benefits covered under the plan. It doesn’t say anything about labs or ER visits, but I am sure those aren’t covered.

The letter they sent was worded to make it sound like because they offer this “coverage” that I wouldn’t be eligible for subsidies on the marketplace. I don’t think this could be correct since the “coverage” doesn’t even cover any hospital or surgical procedures? I thought that this would make it non-compliant with the ACA? Am I correct? Or would this be considered sufficient?
