Question about QLEs and getting insurance

Hello!

I have a question. I live in Minnesota. I just switched from part-time to full-time at my job. On the job posting I responded to when I started it mentioned that health insurance was one of the benefits they offered to full-time employees. So, when I became full-time, I asked about it. Turns out, they do not actually offer health insurance. Instead, they reimburse employees for a certain amount of their health insurance bill every month (they called it the ‘flight’ program, but I have no idea what that is, and no amount of Googling has given me an answer besides letting me know that pilots apparently have good benefits. I don’t know if it’s a government program or not). I asked the HR person if switching to full-time was a QLE and she said that she didn’t know? She told me to talk to someone else at the company. I tried calling them several times, told that he was in a meeting each time and that he would give me a call back, only to never hear anything back. I’ve also tried emailing both the HR person and the guy that she told me to talk to about it but have made no progress. I have schizophrenia and really need health insurance.

So, my question is: is changing to full-time a QLE? If not, is there any other way to get health insurance? I’ve looked into getting a different job, but my options are pretty limited on that front. From what I can find on Indeed, I’d pretty much have to go back to working in a factory and last time I did that I ended up in a mental institution.
