Question about Medi-Cal Eligibility: Can I Apply on My Own if I Live with My Parents?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out my Medi-Cal ( California ) eligibility and need some advice. Here's my situation:

Both of my parents are on Medicare and receive Social Security retirement benefits. Their income surpasses the eligibility threshold for Medi-Cal by a couple thousand dollars. I’m 24 years old, living at home with them. I don’t have a job or any source of income right now. I have some health concerns, but I can’t afford private insurance.

I’m wondering if I can apply for Medi-Cal on my own, or if my parents' income will count as part of my household income since I still live at home and pay $0 in bills.

Neither my parents nor I file taxes—my parents’ Social Security isn’t taxable, and I have no income to report.

Does anyone know if my parents' income will be considered when I apply for Medi-Cal, or would I be evaluated on my own income (which is zero)? Any help or guidance is much appreciated!
