So, recently I went to a doctor in NY and did some blood work. I told them I didn’t have any insurance and I paid the consultation and exam that was $380 plus all the shots I needed. I ended up paying over $500. At that same day the doctor printed out an estimate from Quest about how much my lab bill would cost. She only told me that after she asked for all the tests, never consulted me if she could keep going and do the work, only did the blood work and then came with the $900 estimate bill for quest.

Now I got the bill at home, and tried calling them saying I can’t pay that since I am a full time student, immigrant, with no job, I pay my community college with the savings I had. So there is just no way I can pay this bill. They said they would mail me the financial assistance form and I could send it over with a required document to try and see if I am eligible. The problem is, the documents they are asking for are

A copy of last year’s W2 form

• A copy of last year’s income tax return

• A copy of your most recent pay stub (s)

• A proof source indicating that you are eligible for local, state, or federal assistance programs.

And I dont have any of those since I am not allowed to work and consequently dont have these documents. they were pretty mean to me on the phone so couldn’t ask much about it.

Has anyone ever gone through this? Or, does anyone know what other document I could provide to proofs that I am a student with no income?
