Pulling my hair out trying to find a PCP with out of state insurance provider, with outdated info

Hello all,

I'm 22, and live in Indianapolis Indiana. I recently left college, and am on my father's health insurance, provided through his job. He used to have Anthem BCBS, but now we have Independence Administrators, based in Pennsylvania.

I've been quite sick the last month or so, having a lot of issues with my throat. Nothing immediately severe, which is why I havn't gone to urgent care, but swallowing is harder than it should be, and everything seems inflamed. For this reason, I've been trying to find a primary care physician to take a look at things. I haven't had one since I was a kid, when mine retired.

As most people here suggest, I've tried using Independence's tool for finding doctors. However, the information is useless. It only lists a few doctors in Indianapolis, and none of them are accurate. Some retired, some moved to a different state, but I couldn't find a single one using their tools in my area.

Any advice on how to find a doctor that is in-network? I've tried using the sites of local health networks, and have found a few doctors (although many don't have appointments til November…), but nothing is clear on if they accept my insurance or not.

The deductables and out of pocket costs seem to be the same for my plan for INN vs OON, so does it really matter?

Would really appreciate any help. This has been very stressful.
