Psychiatrists that accept Medi Cal – help

Hello hello,

I am trying to get a recommendation for a psychiatrist AND/OR Medi Cal managed care election that can help my boyfriend with his schizoaffective disorder.

Context – He is currently maintained on Abilify Mantena monthly shot. I found out he was overpaying for his insurance. He couldn't afford his monthly premium for his Covered California plan and often would be blocked access, until paid in, to get his monthly shot on time WITH the federal grace period. To say that this has resulted in very poor outcomes for him is an understatement. I helped him apply for Medi Cal because he has outstanding debt in the thousands for many emergency-related mental health issues. His current psychiatrist isn't the most proactive, nor is the office. They don't seem to get the severity of his condition, severe because he has co-occurring substance use disorders… anyway…

We are located in West Covina, CA. His managed care choices are: LA Care Health Plan: 1. Anthem Blue Cross 2. Blue Shield Promise 3. LA Care Health Plan OR Health Net Comm Solutions: 1. Health Net Comm Solutions 2. Molina Healthcare Partner.

I don't know but all I know is he has paid out of pocket over a thousand dollars for the shot with NO REGULAR income. I've helped him get on EDD for now but to me, quality of care can make a difference in his regular functioning. His last job was lost due to a psychiatric episode because he couldn't afford the premium.
