Provider can’t get their billing straight and it’s giving me headaches.

My son has two insurances: ChampVA (Pay first) and then Medicaid. ChampVA almost always comes second pay unless it's Medicaid or champ VA is your only insurance.

My son goes to a pediatrician. His main pediatrician was out one day so we had to see someone else.

As I was looking at his medical portal. I come to see that there was a 215 dollar balance.

I called up the office and ask what was wrong. Why do I have a balance? They told me that ChampVA denied their claim, that I had other insurance. Okay. That makes sense.

Called up ChampVA and told them what they had said and they assured me that I had no other insurance on hand alongside ChampVA. Medicaid doesn't count. ChampVA tells me that the person who saw us that particular day had billed an incorrect billing code.

Called the provider back up and told them what ChampVA has said. They got mad at me. Acting like I was a nuisance.

Then, today I got a bill by them in the mail for that same 215 dollars.

The funny thing is that my son's normal pediatrician has been getting paid just fine. It was just this one time with someone new.

Once I get this straightened out. I will find someone new.

Why won't the providers call the insurance company to straighten this out. Why are they putting me as the middle man?

I was told I had to add this by admin. State is NC CHAMPVA is free for 100% PT veterans, Wellcare for NC Medicaid because I am dirt poor. No EOB because I am not currently at my desktop to see it. Just what I was told between provider and insurance company
