Professional to Compare Plans?

I’m about to go back to school. I have a few options, as someone aged out of any parental coverage: take the crappy coverage my spouse could be offered (works trades), work to have my employer provided coverage, or take my school’s insurance. It would be great if my school insurance was actually good for me, since it’s affordable and wouldn’t require me to work.

Now, I work in healthcare. I get the jargon, treatment plans, etc on a “boots on the ground” level. But insurance makes my eyes bleed. I’ve had plans that seemed good, but for my needs they were terrible. I have a few medications and physicians that need to be covered, and it’s like pulling teeth to find out what might actually be covered under a specific plan until I’m actually stuck with it and trying.

I’ve heard of Patient Navigators, but they seem to mostly help coordination on a plan you already have. Is there someone like that I can have compare my options for me, and give a breakdown in a form I actually understand? If so, how do I find them?
