Primary Care sent Bloodwork to Lab not covered by my insurance

Primary care doctor took my blood samples at their office. They sent them to Bloodwork testing lab A, which is apparently not covered by my insurance at all (my insurance only covers Bloodwork testing lab B). Primary care doctor did not give me a referral/scrip to take to bloodwork lab.

My insurance portal shows that they did not cover the cost of the bloodwork testing, which came out to $1800. Primary care doctor did not apparently check my insurance to make sure that bloodwork testing lab A was covered by my insurance.

I'm not sure what to do but I certainly can't pay the $1800 and think that my primary care doctor should help foot the bill since they did not ask me if I wanted to send my bloodwork to this testing lab A they apparently "partner" with. Do I have any recourse here? Any advice on how to proceed? I sent them my bill from the bloodwork testing lab A, and also plan to file an appeal with my insurance.
