Prescriptions applied towards deductible for past payments?

This is for my wife who has BCBS in PA.

The way her insurance works is that she has a $2750 yearly deductible. Her employer covers the first $2000 of qualified charges and she is responsible for the remaining $750.

After the $750 all in network charges are covered. Out of network charges keep going towards an out of pocket maximum of $6000.

My wife is pregnant so this is the first time we have have hit the deductible. Because of some health issues my wife requires a fairly expensive monthly prescription.

As instructed by her employer she has a debit card to make prescription purchases that deduct from the $2000 balance.

The thing is I was unaware that her insurance was not notified of these prescription payments. With all the additional pregnancy tests and such we have had a decent amount of bills. Since the insurance was not aware of the prescription those expensive ($200+) purchases have not been adding to her insurance deductible. All the medical bills we recieved of course have been since they are being processed through the insurer.

We now have about $1800 in bills due and I am certain if her prescriptions we being applied to her deductible since the beginning of the year we would have met her deductible much earlier and all these recent medical bills would have been covered.

My question is..will we have an issue submitting these backlog of prescription payments? There would have to be some major adjustments done on the insurance side since the monthly prescription would have had her hit her deductible requirement much earlier.

Any suggestion on how to request or make sure this is processed properly? Should I expect any push back from the insurance company?
