Prescription vs. Health Insurance for Vaccines at Pharmacies

Hello, I recently went to Kroger to get my flu and COVID-19 vaccines and was told Express Scripts (my prescription insurance provider) no longer has a contract with Kroger, so I may be charged for the vaccines. My health insurance (United HealthCare) does list Kroger pharmacies as in-network for these vaccines. Can I use only my insurance card instead of my insurance card and prescription card for the vaccines? I don't really see how or why it matters if my prescription insurance doesn't list Kroger as in-network if my vaccines are covered in full by my health insurance with UHC. I wasn't sure, so I left because the pharmacy tech said I may be charged. I have gotten vaccines at Kroger pharmacy in the past with the same health and prescription insurances, but that was when Kroger has a contract with Express Scripts. Previously when I got a flu vaccine at Walgreens, I was told that I have to present both my prescription insurance and health insurance, but I don't understand why.
