Prenatal health insurance coverage seems like a scam?
Hi. My wife and I are 27 and just went together on my employers insurance. She doesn’t qualify for benefits because she’s a travel nurse. Our first child is going to be delivered in 3 weeks. I have Aetna insurance. We’ve had to do 2 ultrasounds since we went under my insurance along with 3 office visits. 1 office visit was covered for $106. The other ultrasounds racked up to about $2000 and bothclaims were “denied” and deemed “experimental”. Aka, not a preventative office visit? Is this normal for health insurance to not cover ultrasounds? And lastly, my employer changed the insurance we had this year and our bi weekly premium went up 38%. How much control do they have over what insurance they can offer employees? I have 2 bosses and their kids are all about 12 years old or older now which makes me think that maybe they went with a more budget friendly insurance for them because they don’t need the newborn child care that their employees still do. Thanks!
