PPO out of Network vs High Deductible Plan

I want to make sure my gut is telling me the correct choice… is my current high deductible health plan the better option? My current high deductible plan has an $8,500 deductible per person and out of pocket maximum is the same at $8,500. I just started a new job (in addition to self-employment) so I was offered health insurance. No one in my state takes this insurance so I’d have to get a PPO plan and be out of network for everything. The out of network deductible is $2,000 and 40% coinsurance. There is NO out of pocket maximum for being out of network.

We hope to have another baby in the next year so I’m worried to not have a maximum, at least I know I’ll pay $8,500 with the other plan – and be able to have a tax write off by putting it in the HSA first (94 at least the max $7k I think)? Am I thinking about this correctly or is there something I’m missing? Is the PPO worth considering even thought it’s out of network?
