I am really desperate right now. Background: We had employer-provided insurance until my husband quit to start his own business. We messed up, didn't realize there was a 60 day window for special enrollment and missed it. That's our fault, but I can't go back in time. My husband tried to set up insurance through his company- was told it'd go into effect on June 1st, and a week prior to that, he was told that he actually couldn't get that insurance without a 2nd owner in the business. After that, we were referred to a broker by a relative, and my husband had spent the past month talking (and playing phone tag) with this guy, who told us we'd have insurance by July 1st. My husband has been trying to contact him this week to get an update on this, and the guy is just not responding to any kind of communication. I called healthcare.gov and was referred to more brokers who aren't answering their phones.

Anyways, I'm pregnant (with twins), I have 2 appointments next week and really thought we'd have insurance settled by now. I know we messed up by missing the deadline on special enrollment, but what are we supposed to do now? Are we just screwed until Open Enrollment- which is only a month before I'm due? Please if anyone has advice on how to get signed up for insurance asap, I need help.
