[OH] 22, First time getting my own health insurance and I’m afraid I’m going to make a mistake. I’m eligible for Medicare.

I am applying for health insurance for the first time on marketplace since my parents aren't claiming me as a dependent this upcoming year. I believe my total income this year will be less than $12k and my application says I am eligible for Medicare, but I am waiting for them to contact me.

I just have a couple questions.

Since the deadline (to apply?) is December 15th, what if I don't hear back from Medicare in that timeframe and I'm denied? Am I screwed out of other options for health insurance once it's past the deadline? I have a small outpatient surgery scheduled for January. Do I need to reschedule if I don't hear back from Medicare in time? I've seen it's possible they would backpay for the appointment potentially?

I'm honestly a little scared I'm going to make a mistake here and looking for reassurance. Thank you.
