OBGYN Shortage! The U.S. healthcare system is a joke! (Both Saint John’s & UCLA Health)

Look, I want to share a ridiculous experience I had with two of Los Angeles' so-called important hospitals. On Friday, August 30, 2024, I went to Saint John’s Women Wellness Clinic as a walk-in due to a suspected miscarriage. I have active insurance, but my only issue was that I could never reach the appointment service by phone. The receptionist told me she couldn't help me. The earliest appointment was in December. A woman with no empathy, expecting me to keep my deceased baby inside me!

And that day, I'm crying from the shock of the situation. Completely inhumane!

Then, by chance, I found the UCLA OBGYN Health Clinic in the same building. They told me they were fully booked and that I should go to the ER. The ER kept me waiting for 3-4 days before they finally diagnosed me. After four days, they confirmed the miscarriage. When I said I couldn't get an appointment, someone from the case management team came, handed me a Medi-Cal brochure, and told me she couldn't help me get an appointment. She said they had made a request and that the relevant department would call me within 3-4 days. She also suggested I look at other hospitals.

Another heartless response to a woman who just had a miscarriage.

Although it's claimed there's no discrimination in this country, sometimes you can experience silent discrimination. A system that expects me to keep my deceased baby inside me for weeks is rotten to the core!
