No Surise Bill Act Question
Need some advice from other who may have experience with the No Surprise Bill Act, or who work in Health Insurance.
Earlier in the year, I was offered a test by my Provider. I reached out to my health insurance who said that a prior auth would need to be done first. My provider then used the hospitals prior auth team, and let me know via mychart that is was "approved" (no other information regarding cost was given ). I get the sample taken, and it is sent away to Quest Diagnostics for testing. Almost 4 months later, I receive a bill from Quest Diagnostics for over $3k for said test. I call my health insurance company, who say there is no prior auth on file, and that it was an out of network facility. I then call the prior auth team from the hospital where the sample was ordered/taken and they tell me that they have it documented that no prior auth was needed and that "providers sometimes don't get understand the wording", when I said that the provider had said it was "approved".
I guess I'm wondering what my next course of action is? Do I have grounds to submit a "No Surprise Bill" claim… and will it even get me anywhere? Do I file a dispute with the health insurance company? Am I better off just trying to negotiate the bill with Quest and pay it?
If you've read this far, thank you!
