No Insurance, Need Surgery, No Clue

I was recently told I’m going to absolutely need surgery. I have no insurance and no clue where to turn. I have been trying to figure things out for a little while now. And here is the situation that is fucking things up.

From Maine, in Montana. I am currently unemployed, I am currently not in my home state, and I am not legally living here (family emergency caregiver thing). My taxes were filed in my home state where I also have a utility bill in my name. Joint checking account and household with my mother who is helping me financially now. I have no idea when I’m going home, didn’t know I’d be here this long. This is not a surgery I can put off until I get home whenever that is. Nothing that has happened over the last year or so was planned obviously.

I have talked to a couple of state’s health marketplace insurance people. Everything that has been suggested to me is well into the $200/month range and that’s just something I can’t do right now. Anything a lot less is kind of crappy. I have filled out and got accepted for financial assistance for my primary but the specialist is not covered under that and the appointment came up so fast that I didn’t have time to inquire about assistance beforehand. From my chat with the dr. about the costs of surgery and aftercare, the fact I don’t have insurance, and then the receptionist and looking at their site, it doesn’t appear they offer any. I have no idea what to do. I’m just over here really stressing.
