New Insurance Does Not Cover HRT – Will this change in 2025?

My work recently switched from a new insurance to a less than idealistic insurance, Independence by Blue Cross Blue Shield. I don’t mind too much as we don’t have to pay for it. Though, I started HRT on the old insurance and it was not an issue. However, the new insurance will not cover HRT if self-administered, which is how my HRT is, like most are. It’s very strange to me, but when I was searching I found an article that the Biden-Harris administration classed LGBTQ+ healthcare coverage as protected. This article states that effect 1/1/2025: Examples of discrimination that will now be explicitly prohibited include Denial of coverage for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) that transgender people regularly need (services that are commonly received by cisgender counterparts, often with fewer barriers).

So, my question is that would it be likely that HRT be covered when this comes into effect? I think the thing the insurance will try to argue is that they do cover it, but not in a way that my doctor prescribed. I know we won’t know for certain, but I’m trying to see if I need to start allocating my savings way from certain funds if I need to continue to cover my own treatment.
