On October 6th, I got an IUD & a biopsy with Kaiser Permanente. Prior to the appointment, I called in to ask how much the IUD procedure would be as I was on the fence about even having it done. When I called in, I was told that it was covered 100% by my plan and all I had to pay was my $90 deductible. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill for $3k for the IUD today.

I called Kaiser today to ask why I received the bill. I was told I have to pay 40% of everything until I reach my out of pocket max which is NOT what I was told when I called the first time. I’m an idiot and I didn’t ask for anything in writing the first time I called. However, I asked today if the calls are recorded and was told they are. I’ve been assigned a case manager and I have to wait for them to contact me.

I NEVER would have gotten this procedure if it had been over $300 let alone $3k. In addition it’s causing me horrible migraines and I’m probably going to have to have it removed anyway (or remove it myself to save money). Has anyone been in this situation where you called in and were told a price and then they billed you a different amount? Is there anyone else I can contact or anything I can do? Any advice is appreciated!
